[Asphalt](https://blog.asphaltkingdom.com/what-is-asphalt) is an ideal material for race tracks because of its durability and function. However, like any asphalt surface, racetracks utilizing this material need regular repair to keep them in good condition, [free of potholes](https://blog.asphaltkingdom.com/the-best-material-to-fill-potholes) and cracks. Because of the speed of the cars utilizing the track and the associated risks of high speed racing, asphalt race track repair is something best left to professional asphalt contractors. With an asphalt track, contractors generally avoid using pea or river rock as the aggregate because it creates too smooth a surface for race cars. And, as opposed to concrete tracks, asphalt tracks generally require hand scraping to remove rubber after a race. That being said, for asphalt race track repair, maintenance is similar to that of any other asphalt driving surface. ## Supplies for Fixing a Race Track Here's a list of supplies that you'll need to fix a race track: - Hot Pour Rubberized Asphalt Crack Fill - Asphalt Cold Patch - Asphalt Emulsion Sealer - Aquaphalt 6.0 Concrete and Asphalt Patch - Steel Tamper To ensure a safe asphalt racing surface, cracks are best filled with [Hot Pour Rubberized Asphalt Crack Fill](https://www.asphaltkingdom.com/hot-rubber-crack-filler-1-x-30lb-box.html). The crack filler can be used to seal cracks up to one inch in width and up to ½ inch in depth. After filling, the cracks dry quickly in less than four hours. Asphalt Kingdom is a leading supplier of Hot Pour Asphalt Crack Fill, and this product is best utilized with an [RY10 Melter Applicator](https://www.asphaltkingdom.com/ry10-pro-crack-seal-machine.html). This professional-grade piece of equipment is specifically designed to apply hot pour asphalt crack fill into cracks quickly and safely. If there are any potholes that need to be filled, our [Asphalt Cold Patch](https://www.asphaltkingdom.com/asphalt-patch.html) is remarkably easy to use, and fast-drying too. You can drive on it immediately after application, so no race time is lost. It won’t stick to tires, bogging them down. With all types of high-speed racing including asphalt drag racing, asphalt tracks are more prone to deterioration than typical paved surfaces, and thus, regular sealcoating is also a necessity. [Commercial grade asphalt sealer](https://www.asphaltkingdom.com/asphalt-sealer.html) needs to be applied to maintain the flexibility and durability of the asphalt. At Asphalt Kingdom, commercial grade asphalt sealer is sold in containers from 5 to 275 gallons and can be delivered directly to the race track without additional shipping charges. The [Aquaphalt 6.0 Concrete and Asphalt Patch](https://www.asphaltkingdom.com/asphalt-patch.html) is one of our most versatile products. As the name implies, this crack filler can be [used to patch up both concrete and asphalt](https://blog.asphaltkingdom.com/the-best-material-to-fill-potholes) pavements and raceways permanently. Application is so easy, and you only need water to activate it. Tamp it down with a [steel tamper](https://www.asphaltkingdom.com/steel-asphalt-tamper.html), let it cure, and drivers can get back to racing in no time. ## Equipment Asphalt maintenance equipment for fixing race tracks: - RY10 Melter Applicator - Asphalt Sealer Spray System For those asphalt racing tracks that have a full-time track maintenance specialist, it is cost-effective to invest in an [asphalt spray system](https://www.asphaltkingdom.com/sealcoat-sprayer.html) to stay on top of regular sealcoating. Sealcoating spray systems range in sizes from 55 gallon to 750 gallon capacity and provide commercial grade sealcoating capabilities.
