Small to Medium-Sized Line Striping Jobs

These jobs include small parking lots in urban areas, local grocery marts, smaller office buildings, and retail plazas. They typically have 25-75 stalls, requiring one to two gallons of paint (35 stalls per gallon). Despite their size, accuracy is crucial due to the fair amount of traffic these lots receive.

For these types of jobs, we recommend the Titan PowrLiner 850 and a Commercial Stencils Package.

TITAN PL850 (6)

The PowrLiner 850 is ideal for small to medium-sized projects. At 65 lbs, it's one of the smallest and most affordable line stripers in the market, easily storing and moving a 5-gallon paint pail efficiently.

Medium to Large Line Striping Jobs

Medium to large jobs include commercial parking lots, grocery store lots, community sports centers, and medium-sized office buildings. These areas receive heavy traffic, requiring precise stall markings for smooth flow.

These jobs typically have 75-150 stalls and need two to five gallons of paint.

The PowrLiner PL3500 1 Gun Paint Sprayer is ideal for entry-level contractors. This 192-lb machine is lightweight, easy to push, and features a detachable gun for stenciling or vertical painting.

Its lightweight frame and swing-back design make it perfect for long, hard work, making it a great choice for medium-sized lots, regional airports, and athletic fields.

Commercial, Industrial, and Large Scale Road Work

Commercial and industrial to large-scale road work varies in size. Some jobs require minimal planning, while others need extensive preparation and large quantities of product.

Large-scale road work can range from 1-25 km stretches, requiring different types of lines (straight, curved, single, double, solid, intermittent) and typically over fifteen gallons of paint.

The PowrLiner 4955 Line Striping Machine is favored by contractors for its versatility, handling both medium-sized plans and heavy-duty projects. This machine is ideal for large parking lots, airports, and professional athletic fields, ensuring precise results.

The Titan PowrLiner 6955 Pro Line Striper excels in making large jobs quicker, more accurate, and more profitable.

For heavy-duty striping jobs like road work and large parking structures, the Titan PowrLiner 8955 is the top choice. Its self-propelled mode reduces labor, allowing the machine to do the work while you steer, following your pre-marked chalk lines for efficient completion.

Paint

Every line painting job has one thing in common: Paint! There are two types of traffic paint:

  • Alkyd - Oil-Based Traffic Paint
  • Latex - Water-Based Traffic Paint

Both have roughly the same coverage rates. The only difference is Alkyd is widely considered more durable therefore is slightly more expensive. Although, in reality Latex is just as durable. Paint volume varies in gallons depending on the size of your line striping job.

You can cover 1,750 linear feet of a four-inch wide strip with a 5-gallon pail, equivalent to 50 standard parking stalls. Therefore, one gallon of paint covers approximately 10 standard parking stalls.

No matter the job size or type of line striping job, certain tools are essential. To make your work easier, ensure you arrive on-site with the following tools:

  • Heavy tool box, with hook or handle
  • Chalk string line (100 ft. in length)
  • Rope (260 ft. in length)
  • Rope reel
  • 300 ft. tape measure
  • 18 inch orange cones
  • Caution tape
  • Parking lot protractor
  • Sealcoat (for mistakes along the way)
  • An additional weight with a hook (suggestion: cinder block)
